In the semifinals of the 2026 World Snooker Championship, 22-year-old Chinese player Wu Yize edged past Mark Allen 17–16 to reach the final, where he will face Shaun Murphy. Over the course of the match, Allen compiled breaks of 145 and 121, along with eight additional breaks over 50. Wu, meanwhile, produced four century breaks (142, 121, 140, and 126) and 13 more breaks of 50+.

This marks the first time in World Snooker Championship history that a Chinese player has appeared in the final in two consecutive years. In last year’s final, Zhao Xintong defeated Mark Williams to claim the title, becoming the first Asian player to win the World Snooker Championship.

It is also worth noting that Murphy has already beaten three Chinese players at this year’s tournament—Fan Zhengyi, Xiao Guodong, and Zhao Xintong. Wu, on the other hand, reached the final by defeating Lei Peifan, Mark Selby, Hossein Vafaei, and Mark Allen in succession.
